Nepali New Year of Bikram Samvat (Vikram Samvat) is one of the many festivals of Nepal, marked by parties, family gatherings, exchange of good wishes and participation in rituals. It falls on April 14, 2010 (beginning of 2067 Vikram samvat). Navavarsha is celebrated on the first day of Baisakh on the Nepali calendar. ( Bikram Sambat Nepali Calendar is approximately 56 years and 8½ months ahead of the Gregorian calendar. The Nepalese New Year falls in the middle of April. Unlike Gregorian months, the lengths of Nepali months are not of fixed length, and change from year to year, varying from 29 days to 32 days. Bikram Sambat Calendar is specially use in Nepal and India. Country like Indonesia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Thiland and Malaysia also use Bikram sambat calendar.

Bihu ( Bohag Bihu) is Assamese New Year (is on April 15 2010). Goru Bihu is followed by manuh bihu and on third day is Gosai bihu. Bohag Bihu is the first day of Bohag month in traditional Assam calendar which follows the solar calendar.
